Loan Department

Q. How do I apply for a loan?

A. You may apply for a loan with First State Bank by completing a loan application. Loan Applications are available at all of our locations.

Q. What happens if I pay extra money on my monthly payment?

A. Anything over and above the payment amount comes off the principal unless specifed.

Q. What happens if I send excess on my payoff?

A. Anything over and above the current payoff on the date payment is received goes directly back to the customer.

Bookkeeping Department - Electronic Checks

Q. I mailed a check in for my monthly bill and the return check came in as an electronic check. Is this legal?

A. Yes. This is perfectly legal. Many business today are taking advantage of electronic processing of checks. When your biller receives your payment, the check is converted into an electronic check and is charged to your account within one to two business days.

Q. What happens to my original check? Will I ever get it back?

A. No, you will never receive your original check back. For your protection, the company makes a copy of your check and destroys the original.

Q. What do I do if there is an error on a payment amount or a payment I did not authorized appears on my account?

A. Contact us as soon as you notice any discrepancies. Federal Regulations exist that protect you against any unauthorized payments.

Q. What is my proof of payment for an electronic check?

A. The IRS established in 1970 that your bank statement serves as proof of payment.

Q. What if I do not want my check converted into an electronic check?

A. Contact the billing company. They may accept your paper check or they may require another form of payment.
