Protect Yourself from Check card Fraud


Check Card fraud cost cardholders and issuers millions of dollars every year. It is important for you as a consumer to do your part in protecting your account and your personal information. Below is a list of steps you can take to help shield yourself from check card fraud.

  • Monitor your account. Check your account regularly for any suspicious activity or fraudulant transactions.
  • Keep your card secure. Keep your check card in a safe place at all times.
  • Online and Telephone purchases. Making a purchase online or over the telephone with your check card presents a higher risk for fraud to occur. We recommend using a credit card instead of a First State Bank check card for these purchases. 

It's not always possible to prevent check card fraud from happening. Taking a few extra precautions can make a thief's job much more difficult.
